The Bluetooth view I wanted to keep open

SUMMARY
I was testing Bug 427430, and wanted to take a screenshot of the icons and text task manager.with spectacle. In order to do that, I opened the Bluetooth item, and tried to pin it so it would stay open while I used Spectacle. When I clicked the "Keep Open" pin, the view changed to the Wayland to X11 bridge notification, and most of the task manger items were disabled.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open the Bluetooth item in the task manger and view bluetooth devices.
2. Click the "Keep Open" pin
3. Most task manager items go away!

OBSERVED RESULT
I have screenshots, but the taskmanager goes from showing several items to only two: Vorta and HPLIP, in my case.

EXPECTED RESULT
The Bluetooth device view would remain open while i took a screenshot.

I should have said that the workaround is to re-enable those items in the task manager entry list, so this is not a high priority....if you know you can re-enable those items, but it was alarming at first.

Hi Tracey,

I thought all that was in the original report, but happy to repeat!

Operating System: Kubuntu 25.04
KDE Plasma Version: 6.3.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.12.0
Qt Version: 6.8.3
Kernel Version: 6.14.0-15-generic (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland
Processors: 24 × AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 12-Core Processor
Memory: 125.7 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor: AMD Radeon RX 6600
Manufacturer: ASUS

I should add that the effect is repeatable. And ask a question...is the list of task manager items configured for the entire session, or per screen or workspace? I ask because when I set thongs like clipboard to "always show", it was disabled again when I tried to pin the bluetooth devices, but I was in a different screen in the same workspace.

Thanks for the additional details. I'm not able to reproduce this on git-master or in a Kubuntu 25.04 VM
Can you create a new user and see if you can reproduce the bug?

I assume that when you say workspace, you're referring to what is also called virtual desktops
Each virtual desktop has the same panels, and can have more than one
Each panel can have a system tray. The system tray has unique settings per panel

For example, right now I have one panel on top, and one on bottom
The top panel is set to always show the battery/power icon. That will always show on all workspaces
The bottom panel is set to only show battery/power when relevant. It will only show when relevant on this panel

Hi Tracey,

Thanks for the input and explanations.

After being reproducible all day yesterday, the problem has gone away. The only thing that happened in the meantime was that the screensaver cut in overnight. I see a lot of plasmashell crashes overnight, and the automatic restart may have removed the issue.

Let's close the ticket, and mark it "flaky user"!!

i'm glad to hear that a reboot sorted it out. If there had been system updates and the system hadn't been rebooted afterwards, that could have caused it. If that was the case, there would be mismatches between what was being loaded from disk and what was in memory.

I'll go ahead and close this out. Thanks!
