Description Paul Hands 2020-10-08 00:21:48 UTC
SUMMARY
I have two identical Bluetooth speakers (Samsung Radiant 360). I can add both as bluetooth devices, but only the one first added is seen in the Audio subsystem. I want to be able to use them as a stereo pair, but that cannot happen until the audio subsystem sees them both.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Add two identical loudspeakers through the Bluetooth Wizard. They both show up in the device list once paired and connected......
$ bluetoothctl devices
Device 78:BD:BC:8D:69:3F [Samsung] R3 Right
Device 78:BD:BC:88:6A:02 [Samsung] R3 Left
Device F5:E3:5D:65:69:CD Keyboard K780

2.
Now use the standard KDE volume control and list the audio devices. The list only contains the standard audio output device - in my case the builtin speakers in my HDMI monitor and the first-connected Bluethooth speaker. If I connect the speakers in the reverse order, the first one connected is the only one which pulseaudio sees.

I'm not sure if this a bluetooth problem, or an issue with Pulseaudio, but Pulseaudio is not an option in the list of components here. Please let me know if I should somehow file a bug with Pulseaudio/Ubintu.

EXPECTED RESULT
PulseAudio should see both speakers, and allow selection of either as an output target.

Sorry we were not able to get to this bug report yet! Can I ask you if the issue is still happening in Plasma 6.3.4 or newer? Thanks a lot!

Comment 3 Paul Hands 2025-04-25 14:38:36 UTC
Per Nate's request. I retested in Kubuntu 25.04 this morning. Both speakers are connected in Bluetooth, but only 1 is passed to PulseAudio as a potential output device...it looks again as if the first to be connected is passed.

This is a new install of Kubuntu 25.04, and is fully up to date.

Got around to it early, as meetings got cancelled. Also discovered Bug
503343 <https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=503343> in looking again!

Sorry to be a pain.

Thanks for re-testing. This seems like an upstream issue; please report https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pulseaudio/pulseaudio/-/issues
