Description Riccardo Robecchi 2025-03-11 10:11:54 UTC
SUMMARY
Open/save dialogues are opened on a different monitor from that of the parent window on X11. This is very annoying and frustrating. This seems to only happen with KDE/Plasma dialogues of non-Qt-native applications; as an example, this happens with Slack and Vivaldi which use the KDE/Plasma dialogue although they are not Qt-native applications. GTK dialogues are opened correctly on the monitor where the parent window is.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Invoke an open/save dialogue from a non-Qt-native application (e.g. in Slack)

OBSERVED RESULT
The dialogue does not open on the same monitor.

EXPECTED RESULT
The dialogue opens on the same monitor.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: KDE Neon
KDE Plasma Version: 6.3.2
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.11.0
Qt Version: 6.8.2

I assume this is a regression of some sort? Do you remember when it last worked?

I updated straight from Plasma 5.27.10, so that is my only reference - it worked back then, though I realise that is not a great point of reference!

There has been some work done in this area, and I wanted to ask if his has been fixed for you with Plasma 6.4.3? If it's still happening, please mark this as REPORTED. Thanks!

This has been happening on opensuse Tumbleweed for some time (many releases) for me, and still happens on the following infocenter plasma 6.4.3. And it applies like stated to Chrome/Brave/Chromium browsers and others non QT based applications. Should this be reported separately from Neon Linux distro ?

Operating System: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20250804
KDE Plasma Version: 6.4.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.16.0
Qt Version: 6.9.1
Kernel Version: 6.15.8-1-default (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: X11
Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS w/ Radeon 780M Graphics
Memory: 32 GiB of RAM (27.2 GiB usable)
Graphics Processor: AMD Radeon Graphics
Product Name: SER8

Thanks for letting us know. I'm sorry to hear it's still happening.

No need to. We only need one report per bug, no matter how many distros it appears in. Thanks again.
