Description Craig Andersen 2025-03-08 15:40:06 UTC
SUMMARY
Dual screens, application is on primary (1), 'save as' pops up on screen 2.

In any browser or application that you want to save a pdf file for example, the 'save as' dialog pops up on the opposite screen from application.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. In any browser save a pdf file using a dual screen set up.

OBSERVED RESULT

Primary screen is 1 and second screen is 2. Chrome/Firefox/Chromium/Brave on 1, file 'save as'
 pops up on 2.

EXPECTED RESULT
'Save as' dialog would use same screen as application.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

KDE Plasma Version: 6.3.2
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.11.0
Qt Version: 6.8.2

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

openSUSE Tumblewed current 6.13.5-1-default

It turns out that if the application is on screen 2 the 'save as' dialog is also on 2. The difference is the primary screen 1 is 1920x1080 and the second screen 2 is 3840x2160.

The dialog that appears... is it the KDE dialog, or the GNOME/GTK dialog?

Does this only happen in an X11 session? Or also in a Wayland session?

Forward-duping to Bug 501344 since it has slightly a clearer and more technical description. Thanks!

The main place I see it is with browsers Chrome/Brave/Firefox/Chromium, applications like kate/libreoffice calc seem to work. Will try Wayland next.
