Description Fernando M. Muniz 2024-12-09 21:46:10 UTC
After launching Dolphin, if the user checks the properties of a folder under "Places", the app restarts.
The second time onwards works as intended, with no restarts.

I no longer have this issue after I've reinstalled Arch. I wonder if the one who created Bug 497244 can reproduce Bug 497249 that I also no longer experience.

I'm having this issue again on Kinoite. Dolphin 24.08.03
Comment 8 TraceyC 2025-01-06 19:44:19 UTC
I set the platform back to what it had been. Please don't change this. See the field descriptions here for an explanation
https://bugs.kde.org/page.cgi?id=fields.html#alias

Right now I am reliably able to reproduce this with Dolphin 24.08.3 as well as Dolphin run from git-master

Please try reproducing Bug 497249 , I think it might be related somehow.

I wasn't able to reproduce that, I put more details in the other report.

I confirm the problem on:

Operating System: Manjaro Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 6.2.5

Qt Version: 6.8.1
Kernel Version: 6.12.8-1-MANJARO (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland

I don't reproduce it (dolphin-dev).

Either this is a bug in 6.9 or it is fixed with newer versions.
I suspect this a Qt 6.9 regression.
Once more devs use it, it

If I remove the optional package kdenetwork-filesharing the problem is gone.

But after removing that package I lost access to Share tab in properties.

This shows the bug is there. Since this package adds the share tab it loads a plugin when the properties dialog is opened, this means this plugin is the culprit.
Thank you for pin-pointing the origin of the bug, this should be easier to reproduce (and fix).
