It certainly looks like a crash, can you please check if there is a coredump available for the time it happened. See https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports for information on how to get the coredump.
Comment 3 Norvel 2024-09-12 22:43:10 UTC
I do not see "coredump" in that link, do you mean install that thing and debug with it?
Comment 4 Norvel 2024-09-12 22:45:02 UTC
Found it, trying maybe or maybe not, maybe.
Comment 5 Norvel 2024-09-12 22:46:31 UTC
I am on 22.04.4 of Ubuntu, which do I do to install?

Origin errors maybe

This may be just this package but what to do?
Comment 9 Kåre Särs 2024-09-13 05:02:28 UTC
Can you try to resolve your update issues. It looks like one of the mirrors you are using has a broken file.

That aside, you are running a snap packaged Kate. Can you try to update the snap?
Comment 10 Justin Zobel 2024-09-13 07:05:58 UTC
Update issues are something you'll need to take up with Ubuntu, but as Kare suggested it's likely just a mirror sync issue and will be fine if you try again.

As for the crash, see https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports#Retrieving_a_backtrace_using_coredumpctl part of the documentation for how to use it.

Please note that this update issue was not present until I tried to download your tool maybe or maybe not, maybe. I ran this before what was in terminal shown and it said either restart or close terminal and then reopen, I closed terminal and reopenned maybe or maybe not, maybe.

echo -e "deb http://ddebs.ubuntu.com $(lsb_release -cs) main restricted universe multiverse\ndeb http://ddebs.ubuntu.com $(lsb_release -cs)-updates main restricted universe multiverse\ndeb http://ddebs.ubuntu.com $(lsb_release -cs)-proposed main restricted universe multiverse" | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ddebs.list

Yes I am using snap Kate, I installed before in App Store Kate was a thing, I updated almost all packages including Kate, what I could not update was some python stuff but it seems there are no more updates and glitches maybe or maybe not, maybe.

All snaps up to date maybe

I updated Kate and it still crashes same maybe or maybe not, maybe.
Comment 15 Norvel 2024-09-14 21:00:35 UTC
Knowing what you know now, is it okay if I uninstall Kate and then install via deb?
Comment 16 Norvel 2024-09-14 22:39:16 UTC
I uninstalled Kate snap and installed Kate deb, it works now but is different, sorry if I could be more helpful maybe or maybe not, maybe.
Comment 17 Waqar Ahmed 2024-09-15 09:05:22 UTC
It is probably a much older version so it will be a bit different. If you want a newer version either install 24.08 version from Snap, I am not sure if it works or not but 24.08 is the stable version. Or you can try the appImage which is available on the kate website.
