*** If you're not sure this is actually a bug, instead post about it at https://discuss.kde.org If you're reporting a crash, attach a backtrace with debug symbols; see https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports *** SUMMARY When pinnning an app to the panel using the icon only task manager, you have to click "pin to task manager" twice to get it to pin. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Right click on app icon 2. Click Pin to Task Manager 3. Then be forced to do so again. OBSERVED RESULT Just takes an extra click to pin the app. EXPECTED RESULT The app is pinned when you pin it the first time. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: macOS: Linux/KDE Plasma: openSUSE Tumbleweed, Plasma 6.04 (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 6.04 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.2.0 Qt Version: 6.7.0 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Apologies if this is in the wrong spot.
Cannot reproduce. Are you running without Systemd, or with the Systemd Plasma launch integration turned off? Also, in step 1, where does the icon that you're trying to pin live? Kickoff or somewhere else? Finally, does this happen on X11, or Wayland, or both?

The icon in step one is the Icons Only Task plasmoid, in the floating panel. I only tested it on Wayland.
So the icon is for an app that's running, but not pinned? Does the issue reproduce with every app you try, or only some? Can you provide some examples of affected apps?

(In reply to Nate Graham from comment #3) > So the icon is for an app that's running, but not pinned? > > Does the issue reproduce with every app you try, or only some? Can you > provide some examples of affected apps? It does not seem to be limited to any type of app. I've reinstalled Plasma again, and tested it with Krusader, Konsole, Discord, and Thunderbird. All required me to click twice to pin. Pinning from Kickoff, works perfectly fine
How strange! Does it happen in a new clean user account on the same machine, with zero customizations? If so, does it happen in the live session too?
(In reply to Nate Graham from comment #6) > How strange! Does it happen in a new clean user account on the same machine, > with zero customizations? > > If so, does it happen in the live session too? I can try to test in a live session tomorrow. As for a new user, it does happen there as well. I'm unsure, but I'm almost positive it has something to do with the plasmoid itself. Because it also effects dragging the icons to reorder them. I will see if I can take a video of that behavior
Here's a video. IDK if these two problems are related or not. As you can see, sometimes when I drag an app icon, it actually drags another that isn't being clicked on. Sometimes when I hover over an app, the preview shows the app that isn't being hovered over. https://imgur.com/a/wRI03n4
That's a separate issue, yeah. See Bug 482770.

Not sure what fixed it, but this behavior no longer happens in 6.1
