Created attachment 167761 [details] dragging an icon back and forth, grabbing random others Operating System: Fedora Linux 40 KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.2 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.0.0 Qt Version: 6.6.2 Kernel Version: 6.8.1-300.fc40.x86_64 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Processors: 8 × 11th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-1165G7 @ 2.80GHz Memory: 15.5 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: Mesa Intel® Xe Graphics I am on a Laptop with touchpad and I use the default "icons only task manager" on wayland. I have lots of apps pinned, and when I drag one around, back and forth, sometimes (and I am pretty sure this is not a touchpad issue) it loses the focus on that icon, grabs another and moves that around. This may repeat and in the end everything is messed up.

Created attachment 167764 [details] maybe a different bug, but items are not moving at all, jumping back, flickering and more
If this is the same problem I experience... it's caused by setting some applications in the task manager to not be viewable on all desktops or all activities. It gets extremely confused when you do this, and starts scrambling your arrangements. I ended up writing a perl script to reorder the apps by modifying ~/.config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc while plasmashell is not running. It was the only way to get around this bug, which has been there since KDE 5. So if this is the same bug, I can confirm it happens and it is extremely irritating. Unless you edit plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc manually after moving anything, it makes Activities completely unusable with different panel views.
I also have had this issue for quite a long time. It's very annoying. I practically can't rearrange my panel icons, without unpinning them and pinning them again in the order that I want them in. Kinda strange that there don't seem to be many people who have this problem... Some System information, in case that might help: OS: Fedora 40 (also had the issue on OpenSuse Tumbleweed and Debian) Plasma Version: 6.1.2 GPU: NVidia GeForce GTX 1060 6GB GPU Driver: Proprietary Version 555 (also on older versions like 550) Display Server Protocol: Wayland
I found that this bug happens when using Plasma 6 in Wayland mode, but not X11. I reproduced it on both Fedora 40 and Arch in Wayland, but couldn't reproduce on Arch in X11. (Fedora KDE doesn't install X11 by default, and I haven't tried installing it yet.) On Wayland, the first app icon I drag works, but the next time you drag a different app, Plasma mistakenly drags the *first* app (you previously dragged) to the *new* location of your mouse. This was the behavior I largely observed, but does not match the screencasts uploaded by other users. I do not have display scaling enabled on my Fedora machine, but it is enabled on Arch. The bug seems to happen both with display scaling on and off.
Thanks for the reports! The original bug is a duplicate of #482770, and should be fixed with Qt 6.7.2, released about a month ago. nyanpasu64, I think your issue might be related to https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=490059 although that one is about icons-and-text task manager, not icons-only. If there are any other related issues not fixed with Qt 6.7.2, please file a new report - having many separate issues in one bug report makes it confusing and hard to track. Thanks! *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 482770 ***
