:~> sudo update-alternatives --config default-displaymanager
[sudo] password for root:
There are 3 choices for the alternative default-displaymanager (providing /usr/lib/X11/displaymanagers/default-displaymanager).

  Selection    Path                                  Priority   Status
------------------------------------------------------------
* 0            /usr/lib/X11/displaymanagers/sddm      25        auto mode
  1            /usr/lib/X11/displaymanagers/console   5         manual mode
  2            /usr/lib/X11/displaymanagers/sddm      25        manual mode
  3            /usr/lib/X11/displaymanagers/xdm       10        manual mode

Text is missing from the icons, too. I can't tell from the phone photo; can you see whether the text is there but just very very very hard to see because it's similar to the background color, or if it's really not there at all?

Thank you for your response. As in bug #480495 (which I reported also). Yes, the icon area is completely blank also. I have reported this to the Mesa developers here: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/-/issues/10523

Please do let me know if there may be anymore information which could be useful to you about this situation. The hardware is becoming older so I am not certain that it will be looked into.

Thank you for your response.

-Best Wishes

Thanks, the info that it started happening after a Mesa update is very relevant. :) It does seem like a GPU driver issue, but we're also exploring ways to modify the UI to not be as vulnerable to them anymore. Marking as a duplicate of that effort.
