On Manjaro KDE Stable I noticed that I can’t access folders named “?” anywhere in the folder name in Dolphin (I’m on KDE Plasma. No issue doing so in Nemo) . Dolphin shows the thumbnails that are contained in the folder, and can create such folders. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Create a folder in Dolphin. Or rename an existing one. 2. Try to open it. OBSERVED RESULT You're being kicked back to the parent folder. EXPECTED RESULT Open the folder and show its contents. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Manjaro KDE Stable KDE Plasma Version: 5 27 10 KDE Frameworks Version: 5 112 0 Qt Version: 5 15 11 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION on LTS Kernels 515, 61, 66 It used to work on Dolphin prior version.
Can't reproduce on plasma 6 beta. Is this just the normal ascii "?"?
(In reply to fanzhuyifan from comment #1) > Can't reproduce on plasma 6 beta. Is this just the normal ascii "?"? Seems to work on Fedora 38 as well, that's with BTRFS. (In reply to holyzolly from comment #0) > ... Manjaro KDE Stable ... What filesystem are you using?
Not thought about filesystem, yepp. NTFS. No, just kidding. It's BTRFS too, encrypted. And yeah normal ASCII I guess, I got en-us as language and German keyboard layout.
(In reply to holyzolly from comment #3) > ... NTFS. No, just kidding ... Well, I did check "just in case" and NTFS with the Paragon ntfs3 driver also seems OK (again on Fedora38)
It seems fine on Manjaro 23.0.04 with Dolphin 23.08.1. I tried creating it on different places and also using terminal but I didn't find anything unusual.

I'm hitting a wall... Operating System: Manjaro Linux KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.10 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.112.0 Qt Version: 5.15.11 Kernel Version: 6.6.7-1-MANJARO (64-bit) Graphics Platform: X11 Dolphin: 23.08.4 Tried with ext4 and BTRFS based "out of the box" installs (manjaro-kde-23.1.0-231215-linux66.iso). I can create, rename, open and delete folders such as "?folder", "fol?der and "folder?" in Dolphin. Perhaps set up a new user on your system and see if you see the same issue there....
thank you. may be a nemo extension also here. will try..
(In reply to holyzolly from comment #8) > thank you. may be a nemo extension also here. will try.. No problem! It's a strange bug, let us know what you find....
i meant a Dolphin* extension. In fact, the issue is only here when I opened the embedded terminal (F4). Which is zsh and configured with p10k...
If the bug won't show for you, it's either that configuration or maybe my exa alias in the zsh config file.
When I restart dolphin, and it still loading or so, I can quickly open the empty "?" folder and remain in it. However after a few seconds, when I go to the parent again, I can not get into it anymore.
This seems to duplicate this bug, from earlier this year: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=468908 ...where it says, this might be related: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=469585 This might be a dupe if they had embedded terminal open: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=443467
