SUMMARY Accented letters (such as àèìòù) render as normal letters *** STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Type accented letters in the text field (in my case I'm using extended UK layout, so for example I'll first press ` and then a, to generate à) OBSERVED RESULT Letters are not accented EXPECTED RESULT Accented letters should render correctly SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux: EndeavourOS, i3WM KDE Frameworks Version: 5.110.0 Qt Version: 5.15.10 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Hi, I haven't had any trouble with accented characters and have tested these extensively. Can you be a bit more clear about what you're doing, like, is this the rich text field? Can you maybe share a test file that shows the problem?
Created attachment 162119 [details] .kra file displaying accented letters typed in 5.2.0 and 5.1.5
Oh, I didn't think submitting an attachment would send a new comment - So yes, it is the rich text. Since I use UK extended layout, the way I insert accented letters is by first pressing ` which sits on the left of 1, and then the letter I need, such as a, which will post à. This works fine in 5.1.5, but in 5.2.0 the accents do not show at all
I also accidentally didn't accent the ì in the .kra file, but it was a mistake from my part. It all does work fine in 5.1.5
Hurm, what is likely going on here is an input bug, as when I switch my layout to English (UK, extended) I can type à in the rich text field just fine. I'm on KDE Plasma 5.27, so maybe there's a difference between window managers somehow? Do you maybe have similar trouble with other KDE programs? In any case, it doesn't seem like a bug in the text component, even if it makes said text component annoying to use, so I'm switching it over to shortcuts.
Oh, adding to that, can you type à or the like for a layer name, or something like the file name?
Argh, I realised another question: what is the source of your version of Krita? Repository? Appimage? FlatPak? Steam?
I'm using appimages It looks like I cannot type accents on layer names either, they render as normal letters too In 5.1.5 they do work fine
oh and no, I haven't had this issue anywhere else. For instance, kdenlive picks up inputs just fine and I can type any character as intended
Isn't this a duplicate of bug 469691 then?
That bug reports occurring also happening in Krita 5.1.5 (e0453bf87f). The version I'm using which works is the stable 5.1.5 so I'm not sure if that one is a nightly, I would test it but I don't know how to find that exact version
