(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***) Package: kdm Version: KDE 3.0.7 Severity: normal Installed from: Compiled From Sources Compiler: 2.95.3 OS: Linux OS/Compiler notes: Slackware 8.1 Kernel 2.4.18 When logging out the logout window doesnot have an option that has "Save session settings". Therefore the user cannot set a session and logout and unlick the checkbox. Please include this option for storing session. It was present in 3.0.2 but missing in 3.1 Beta1. (Submitted via bugs.kde.org)
a) this is not about kdm but ksmserver b) this is not a bug but a feature. you can now permanently set your preference in the control center under "session manager".
I think this is a bug, not a feature. 1) If I always want to save/not save my session: - under the old system, I could just choose to tick/untick the box on the logout window, and leave it there - under the new system, I have to wade through kcontrol 2) If I want to save my session sometimes, not always - under the old system, the option is there when I logout, i.e. when I need it - under the new system, there is an option in the KMenu, which is not there when I logout (unless I happen to use the KMenu to log out), but takes up space on the KMenu at all other times If this doesn't persuade you, could we at least refer this to usability@lists.kde.org?
why does reassigning require the bug to be open? :)

I second this would be nice to have. At least in suse I can go to the menu --> leave and save menu, but I use the shutdown applet typically and the "save" session has been taken out :(
Hi, is this fixed in KDE 4? I'm still using KDE3.5 here and really miss such a feature. The reason for me is that I'm using sleep mode with my notebook and have uptime of many days. So I like to save my session from time to time and therefore deactivated automatic session saving so the save-manually-button appears in kmenu. But then the session won't be saved any longer when logging out. Thanks, Marcel
Of course it is not fixed.. unfortunately. There should be at least an advanced mode where you can shutdown/logoff and discard session settings/changes made.
