Description Matej Mrenica 2023-03-04 12:07:24 UTC
SUMMARY
Restarting plasmashell fixes this issue, switching from "Folder view" to "Desktop" and back also fixes the issue.
Changing any icon sorting settings doesn't do anything.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Have some icons on your desktop
2. Wait some time or put your laptop to sleep?

OBSERVED RESULT
Icons will disappear.

EXPECTED RESULT
They stay there.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.2 and before maybe since 5.27 Beta?
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.103.0
Qt Version: 5.15.8

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Both X.org and Wayland. Multi-monitor setup: laptop + external screen, laptop screen is off. IIRC I don't have this issue with only the laptop screen. Also this may not be a Folder view issue.

Eek. There's a chance this *might* have been fixed with the fix for Bug 464873, which will be released with Plasma 5.27.3 in a week. So if we haven't figured the issue out by then, it would be great if you could upgrade to 5.27.3 once it's released and re-test.
Comment 3 Nate Graham 2023-03-08 18:58:00 UTC
FWIW I cannot reproduce the issue with the upcoming 5.27.3 when I put my laptop to sleep while connected to an external HDMI screen.
Comment 4 Matej Mrenica 2023-03-21 09:11:05 UTC
In case this is caused by corrupted config files, what files could be the culprit?
Comment 5 Nate Graham 2023-04-09 20:23:04 UTC
Matej, can you reproduce the issue in Plasma 5.27.4 which was just released? It has an additional change relevant to this use case.

I am no longer using a multi monitor setup and since no one else is having this issue I am letting it go into WORKSFORME.
