The hot key doesn't work either. This is intended behaviour. You anyway can't write multiple replies at=20 the same time or can you. ;-) Regards Ingo -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.7 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE9VDTaGnR+RTDgudgRAuArAKCuSEcy2ylNtZh6mPhRMtdASAcungCfZQfO bYb5J66E5HL2B3F6tj+4nDY=3D =3D7Lgl -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

Then I reconsidered the issue re-opened the bug report and=20 changed the severity to wishlist. And now Stephan closes it again. Please open it again Stephan. I see no reason why we shouldn't make it=20 possible to reply to several messages at once. If kmail would allow to reorder folder lists I wouldn't have to read kde-bugs-dist before kmail :) I didn't close the wishlist but a bug report that was wrong - just as you did :) Greetings Stephan
I would like to point out that the proposed semantic is not the only one. In mutt you can select multiple messages and hit the reply button. If you do, you will find yourself in front of a single message that has everyone on the recipient list (the sum of all the messages that were selected) and all texts quoted, each with the correct introduction (on date X, Y wrote). Typical usage scenario: - you write a message to a mailing list - multiple people answer your message - you see all answers were related - you select all of them and send one single response that will be read by everyone. This is the only feaure I miss after migrating from mutt to kmail.
Any news on that matter ? Like Simone Piunno, I really miss this feature after switching from Mutt to KMail, selecting several messages and replying to all of them in only one mail.

This feature is particularly important now that KMail supports templates (Bug 1015). I want to be able to select multiple messages and respond with a template that says, "I've read your message but unfortunately don't have time to send a personal response. For urgent matters you can reach my by telephone at..." An alternative way of implementing this feature would be through a filter (See Bug 23303). I think both methods should be implemented as the former allows the user to customize the message before sending.
Currently, replying to multiple selected messages in kmail 1.9.51 (kde4 beta1) only includes the FIRST selected message, both for its choice of recipient(s) and for the quoted text. As described above (or in the other bugs marked as duplicates), the correct behaviour would be a union of authors (in the case of reply) or of all recipients (except for me) in the case of reply to all. As with mutt. By the way, this feature is absent from most popular email clients (other than mutt) but has been available since the stone age under VAX/VMS. Just don't believe that email is a "recent" invention of the internet.
Confirming feature is still missing from KDE 4.2.2.
There is actually a "Answer to all" options in the context menu but I don't know what purpose it serves, obviously not answering all mails but I think it is to answer all recipients of the first selected mail...
(In reply to comment #13) > There is actually a "Answer to all" options in the context menu but I don't > know what purpose it serves, obviously not answering all mails but I think it > is to answer all recipients of the first selected mail... Actually it answers to all email addresses (including sender) that are in the email you opened the context menu for. And it answers exactly this email. As a former Mutt user I miss this feature, too. My use case is not that much answring multiple mails from different persons, but from the same. I get more than one email before replying and instead of replying them each, I just want so compose a big reply covering all.
Reassigning to kmail2, please comment on the validity of this report against KMail2
I would welcome such a feature.
I'm the original reporter. I confirm the wish is still valid against KMail2. Below is an attempt to resume the various ideas users suggested. Uses cases are in comments. Problem was: after selecting multiple email you can't hit the Reply or Reply To All button. 1. same as Mozilla: select multiple message, then send a different answer to each of them; 2. same as Mutt: select multiple messages and hit the reply button. If you do, you will find yourself in front of a single message that has everyone on the recipient list (the sum of all the messages that were selected) and all texts quoted, each with the correct introduction (on date X, Y wrote). (fully described in comment 6): 3. select multiple messages and respond with a template (fully described in comment 10); IMHO, the various wishes could be satisfied by using different behaviour when hiting "Reply" (1st case) or "Reply to all" (2nd case) and by allowing filter use to reply with a template as described in case 3 and #23303
