Description Marc Mutz 2001-03-29 20:57:32 UTC
(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***)

Package: kmail
Version: KDE 2.1.1
Severity: wishlist

Now that kmail (at least CVS I heard) supports templates I'd like to
request a feature whose lack has bugged me in all mail clients I have
used (pine ns kmail). Currently e.g. ns-mail and I guess Kmail (can't
check ATM) have something along the following

If this filter matches
{move to...deletemark as...change priority to...}.

I'd like to add to this list: "reply using template xyz".
Also it would be most useful if one could select more than one option
so that you can formulate e.g.:

If this filter matches then
- mark as read
- reply with template "x"
- move to folder "Trash"
in this sequence.

Auto-generated replies should be stored in outbox.

OK now KMail works again (was a .DCOP_server... issue).
I can see that the filters can do much of what I have dreamed of.
There's an auto-forward action so I guess chances are that with
template support the requested feature has popped up either way.

This is there of course.. :-)

However the filter dialog is quite a jungle. More in another mail...

See also Bug 46313, which requests the feature to reply to multiple selected messages at once. It isn't a duplicate, though it requests similar functionality.

Thank you for your feature request. Kmail1 is currently unmaintained so we are closing all wishes. Please feel free to reopen a feature request for Kmail2 if it has not already been implemented.
Thank you for your understanding.
Comment 6 Luigi Toscano 2012-08-19 01:13:29 UTC
Instead of creating a new feature request, please confirm here if the wishlist is still valid for kmail2.
Comment 7 Xavier Brochard 2012-09-13 17:28:11 UTC
I was just about creating a similar wish for kmail2. So I confirm this is still valid for kmail2.
Additionnaly, someone mentionned my report Bug 46313 which is still related to this one.

Using templates in filters will give a lot of power.
