Hello I have some photos that do have location data, yet Digikam does not show that they have location. If I go to Edit Geolocation box, the location is actually shown there, and if I copy, paste, apply, then the location shows in Digikam... STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Import attached photo in digikam. In thumbnails view, the photo does not show the earth symbol. Open Map right panel : it says no geolocation information available. 2. Edit Geolocation for this photo. You can see the latitude and longitude for the photo. With right click, copy then paste coordinates from the photo on itself. Apply. Close 3. The earth symbol now shows on the photo. The map displays the right location in the map right panel. EXPECTED RESULT The location should be parsed without requiring any data edition. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: 10

The symbol for geological information is displayed here without problems. We know the problem that under Windows, the metadata is sometimes not fully recorded during the first scan. The cause is probably that the image is open in other processes under Windows and is therefore locked for digiKam. Reread the metadata of the image (item or album menu). Maik

Thanks, reread metadata did the trick!
It could also be due to antivirus programs, they should add digiKam and ExifTool as exceptions. You can also read in ExifTool forum that it is blocked by Microsoft Defender. Maik
