Description postix 2022-01-25 20:02:56 UTC
Currently the audio applet lists only applets which do play sound in the moment.

However, I would like to e.g. mute an application like the Firefox browser, before I hit the "play" button, e.g. of a video, while I still listen to another source, like a music player / conference software / etc.

This seems currently not possible. Therefore an option to "show applications without sound" would be very helpful.

Videos in the FF browser are of course just one example and not for each video player you can set the volume in-before hand.
Other examples are applications, which only sporadically play sound, and thus only appear in the list for a very short time. There are of course more examples, but I think those already justify an implementation.

That should be possible to do using the stream restore database from pulseaudio. However that's a potentially _very_ long list of programs, so not sure how to present that in a nice manner
