Add an option to show all running pulseaudio applications instead of only playing applications
Comment 1 Nate Graham 2019-05-21 19:04:13 UTC
Isn't that what it already shows?
Comment 2 Ariel Rosenfeld 2019-05-22 06:30:06 UTC
Unfortunately it doesn't, only if a player is playing it would show up, which for the event sounds is extra frustrating as the sounds are short.
Comment 3 Kai Uwe Broulik 2019-05-23 08:00:23 UTC
The notification sounds I think are explicitly consciously filtered out from the plasmoid for some reason. They show permanently in the KCM, though.
Comment 4 Ariel Rosenfeld 2019-05-23 11:53:34 UTC
And that is not expected behavior for a mixer, on other DE and OS the ability to change volume is one click away, but in the plasma-pa the defaults are not only device volume which requires one more click for the application tab which as i mentioned in another bug report doesnt remember that you want the application tab after reboot or logout

this negates the reason of having a quick access volume tray icon and requires me to find the KCM or another app

and most people dont know that the scroll wheel can control volume

i dont get why there are such objections to be able to change the specific application volume and keeping the playback device which is master volume as the forced default and make it harder to change volume per application!

I just am frustrated that in the DE that used to have the most tweaking options you cannot get simple options like show all application that can play, application tab as default and vertical sliders

I think I understand what you mean now. In fact I've found myself wanting the same thing.

> and vertical sliders
Not sure how that would be an improvement.

the win7 mixer widget shows how to can look, its not very pretty as it copies the win7 style but it does try to maximize the information you can see and when you mouse over the icons you get even more information plus you can click them for menus with more options, reducing the clicks required to change volume or mute.

it needs work to look more native but its clean and uses vertical widgets.

the problem with horizontal sliders it grows up and you get less space to expand while vertical sliders expand to the side and have more space.

kmix used to have an option to have an option select vertical or horizontal sliders but when pulseaudio was adopted kmix lost that option.

I think my proposal targets the same issue: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=409822

Mark as duplicate or leave it opened as you wish.

If I understand the bug report correctly, here'd be my use case:

I sometimes wish to route some application's audio over a special sink but I cannot do it in beforehand before it already started playing audio. Thus it'd be super useful to have that.
