SUMMARY I can't synchronize contacts with google account anymore. After fresh install of Neon, synchronization of my contacts with google doesn't work. Address book can be created but is not synchronized with server. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Create address book for google account. 2. Authenticate withing google to allow kaddressbook to access your contact details. 3. Refresh the folder - no update. OBSERVED RESULT Synchronization doesn't work. EXPECTED RESULT Synchronization of contacts should work.
All the google contacts labels appear, but no contacts are sync'd to the system.
Operating System: FreeBSD 13.0 KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.1 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.90.0 Qt Version: 5.15.2 Kernel Version: 13.0-RELEASE-p7 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: X11 Memory: 15.9 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: Mesa DRI Intel® HD Graphics 3000 Not only is the Gcontact import stub not working, but, manually trying to add a Vcard file will not work either. You now have to request your data be sent to you by google if you want a vcard formated list of your contacts. This should at the minimum work locally. What a disappointment after successfully setting up what seems to be a very good imap server with Kmail.
The problem still remains since months or longer. There are lot of duplicated bug reports which shows the importance. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=446580 https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=451621 https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=452322 https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=359178 https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=332224
I think most/all of these bug reports should be marked "resolved dupe" of bug #439285 to tidy things up a bit? Basically libkgapi needs fixing as mentioned in the bug report. bug #439285 comment 15 Sadly #439285 is also over a year old, lack of resources I guess :-(
We recently for 23.04.0 made google contact work again. This was not a trivial task as can be seen by the gigantic merge request https://invent.kde.org/pim/libkgapi/-/merge_requests/22
