Description Oded Arbel 2021-09-18 13:38:35 UTC
SUMMARY
When trying to drag a Plasma widget from one screen to another, as soon as the cursor enters the new screen, the widget is dropped and the dragging ends.

Also, in my testing of dragging between differently sized and differently form-factored screen, in the new screen the widget gets resized to a smaller size (maybe a default size) which is often too small to correctly render the content. I'm not sure if its a related issue or not.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Have two screens.
2. Add a widget on one screen.
3. Grab and drag the widget to the second screen.

OBSERVED RESULT
Dragging abruptly ends, without releasing the mouse button, when entering the new screen.

EXPECTED RESULT
Dragging should continue until the mouse button is released.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma:
KDE Plasma Version: 5.23.80

X11 or Wayland?

Apparently both (I reported on it from Wayland, but on X11 its the same issue).

I just installed a fresh Kubuntu 22.04 and the issue is still there. Sometimes, if I am very fast dragging it, it semi-shows up. It has also crashed plasmashell, so it's not something I would want to do too often. Event Calendar, as a widget, seems to handle it better than most (not sure if I am just lucky or if this even helps).
