But apps appear?
Comment 2 Marcelo Bossoni 2021-09-10 14:48:02 UTC
Yes, I have firefox to open automatically on login (xwayland)
I could open ksysguard by using Ctrl + esc
I could open a konsole from ksysguard.

If I try plasmashell --replace if finishes stating that dbus something is already being used by another process.

Interesting, tried with current master and same thing happens.
When I open Firefox in wayland mode, my mouse cursor turns into a small white dot.
After closing it, it turn into a black box.
Screen capture using spectacle seems to show it properly.

Looks like this is a known upstream issue (https://github.com/NVIDIA/egl-wayland/issues/40) and an NVIDIA engineer has submitted a Qt patch to fix it (https://codereview.qt-project.org/c/qt/qtwayland/+/373473).

At this point it's probably not worth working around in KDE code. When that Qt patch is merged, we can cherry-pick it into our patch collection for Qt 5.15. If it's rejected, we can re-evaluate and reconsider a KDE-specific workaround.

I see the same issue, but my system already uses egl-wayland 1.1.7

Kubuntu 21.10
egl-wayland 1.1.7
Plasma 5.23.5 (Backports PPA)
QT 5.15.2

Are there more triggers for this bug but egl-wayland?
