SUMMARY
https://invent.kde.org/plasma/plasma-desktop/-/commit/9021b3cb4d597413daa8f9960a0b69524fb77715 removed the keyboard layout switch OSD on X11.

The keyboard KCM still shows a "OSD on layout change" option though, giving the impression that this feature exists
