Description Geoffrey Clements 2021-03-24 18:38:16 UTC
SUMMARY
Using an IMAP server with a Trash folder. When an e-mail is deleted from any folder it is gone forever.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create e-mail in drafts or read an e-mail in the inbox.
2. Delete the e-mail using the Del key.
3. Try to find e-mail in Trash folder, it's not there.

OBSERVED RESULT
e-mail goes missing and cannot be found in any folder.

EXPECTED RESULT
e-mail should be re-filed in Trash folder

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

Linux/KDE Plasma: KDE neon User Edition 5.21
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.21.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.80.0
Qt Version: 5.15.12

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I see bug 53342 says this is a feature but it's more like mis-feature. As a long-time user of kmail I've lost many e-mails because of this, the e-mails being deleted silently does not help the situation.

Furthermore under the Configure Keyboard Shortcuts the action for Del is given as "Move to Wastebin".
