SUMMARY For certain files, when I create a link to them on the desktop, they get truncated without the "..." STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Create a folder/file in Dolphin called "FDER and WOGR (Ubuntu)" or some variation 2. Drag the folder/file to the desktop 3. Choose "Link" OBSERVED RESULT The displayed filename is cut off before the first parenthesis EXPECTED RESULT Link should display as "FDER and WOGR (Ubuntu)" and open up the folder when you open it. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux 5.10.7 KDE Plasma Version 5.20.5 KDE Frameworks Version 5.78.0 Qt Version: 5.15.2 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Variations that reproduce the issue: ASDF and WOGR (Ubuntu) asdf and WOGR (Ubuntu) FDeR and WOGR (Ubuntu) FEOR and WOGE (Ubuntu) Variations that display as they should, and don't reproduce the issue: fder and WOGR (Ubuntu) ASDF and WoGR (ubuntu) XXXX and XXXX (Xxxxxx) This is really weird and obscure, I only found out about it when I put a link to Dopply's remake of Zelda CD-i games on my desktop. Also, items on the desktop are unusually difficult to open right now with double-clicking, I seem to need to triple click. But that's probably a separate issue.
Confirmed can replicate. I believe the start bracket breaks the long name ... logic. Really odd actually. Just tested "ABCD efg HIJK (LMNOPQ)" works OK.
Can't reproduce myself. Can you attach a screenshot? What are your folder view settings for the label width? Narrow, Medium, or Wide? > Also, items on the desktop are unusually difficult to open right now with > double-clicking, I seem to need to triple click. But that's probably a > separate issue. Do you have a high refresh rate screen?
Created attachment 135000 [details] Screenshot of title issue Nate: The label width is set to Medium. Here is a screenshot.
Also, yes, I have a 144 Hz display. I notice that when I set the refresh rate to 60 Hz, log out and back in, the double-click issue is gone. Then I can change the refresh rate back up again, and the issue is still gone - though I assume it will come back on next login. I tried searching for an issue for this, but didn't find one. If you do not know of one, I can create one.
Thanks. Weird that I cannot reproduce the issue. > Also, yes, I have a 144 Hz display You're hitting Bug 419421. There's a workaround in there. Can you please leave a comment in there saying that you're also hitting the issue?
