Description David Chmelik 2020-12-23 09:17:34 UTC
SUMMARY

The panel works fine if you leave it at the bottom (Windows 95) style, but if you put it at the top (Apple style) then want it auto-hide or to get covered, neither of those work.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Move panel to top.
2. Set it to auto-hide and (another time) for windows to cover.
3. Make windows large enough to cover and move the mouse off the panel if necessary.

OBSERVED RESULT

Panel won't get hidden/covered.

EXPECTED RESULT

Panel should get hidden/covered regardless where it is.

Huh, works for me.

Are you using a multi-screen setup?
Comment 2 David Chmelik 2021-01-05 20:17:37 UTC
Yes: one monitor above another, and one to the side.

I'm afraid the "Windows Can Cover" Panel visibility mode has been removed for Plasma 6 and we aren't planning to bring it back. In its place, we plan to implement an "intelligent auto-hide" or "dodge windows" mode, per Bug 349785. This should hopefully be much better than "Windows Can Cover" ever was, and offer support for its use cases.

Thanks for your understanding!
