Description cgku 2020-11-08 00:33:15 UTC
SUMMARY
Today I completed an upgrade from Ubuntu 20.04 to 20.10. All available updates were applied. However, Discover notifier keeps alerting that updates are available. The problem persists a restart.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
None. System generated.

OBSERVED RESULT
The system tray has an alert from Discover that updates are available. Opening discover shows the system is up-to-date. Running apt confirms that no updates are available.

EXPECTED RESULT
Clicking the notice would open Discover and show the available updates to install or that Discover Notifier would not post an alert if no updates are available.

@nate
I read the referenced item and this is NOT a duplicate. My issue has nothing to do with me attempting to install anything, nor am I receiving any error messages. The system (Discover Notifier) automatically checks for updates and reports there are some available. However, nothing is pending download/install in Discover, nor does Apt report anything being available. I rolled back to a backup of 20.04 and will try 20.10 again in a week or so; but I'm going to reopen this if it happens again.

Were you able to retest this?
Comment 4 cgku 2020-12-02 00:05:31 UTC
Yes. I attempted another upgrade to 20.10 last weekend and after one week of testing I can safely say this issue has not resurfaced.
