Description zaileion 2020-10-25 21:57:15 UTC
Online Accounts does not work for several 3rd party services. Google, Skype, Telegram, Lync and others. I cannot add any of these accounts, but haven't tested others since I only have accounts with these services. When I click add new account and select any of the above accounts it just flips back to the add new account. It never prompts for account information, or anything. it's like i never clicked anything. All Plasma services that depend on Online Accounts, like google drive integration into Dolphin, the plasma instant messaging integration don't work due to this malfunction.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Click System Settings, Click Online Accounts
2. Click Add New Account Button
3.

OBSERVED RESULT
click add account select one of the above listed options and it reverts back to the add account button

EXPECTED RESULT
prompt to input sign-in credentials

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows:
macOS:
Linux/KDE Plasma: KDE Neon 5.20.1
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.20.1
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.76.0
Qt Version: 5.15.0

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This seems to me as a significant failure and should be fixes post haste.

This happens in both User and Testing versions of KDE Neon

Google and Telegram open fine for me. Skype and Lync don't though.

I noticed that the UI doesn't show the error message provided by the backend at all so I created https://invent.kde.org/network/kaccounts-integration/-/merge_requests/16

For skype this tells me "This IM Account cannot be created - a Telepathy Connection Manager named 'haze' is missing or it cannot handle protocol 'skypeweb'. Please try installing haze with your package manager". I'm not familiar enough with telepathy to judge whether this is a setup issue or fault of KAccounts/KTP though

I dont have a package named "haze" in Synaptic and fails to install via apt-get. Also, kmail and kcalendar work with my google accounts just fine but i think they are different somehow since when i add my gmail account to kmail that account does not show up in online accounts in system settings. So however kmail is authenticating works at lease with google...

now when i try to add accounts none work (same things, it just flips back to the add account screen) but now Lync lets me add an account but it automatically adds an account which is named: ktp-sipe-haze9
very strange...

I tried again on Neon and can't log into Google. As mentioned in some other report signond crashes. Seems like Debina/Ubuntu/Neon is missing the fix other distros applied

you should switch over to the duplicate bug above https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=420280

I think the admin's closed this as a duplicate and redirected to the other.
