Description Madison Hanberry 2020-10-09 01:31:42 UTC
SUMMARY
When creating an inline note annotation on a PDF document, Korean characters (Hangul) are not rendered.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create a text annotation
2. Add Korean text to the annotation

OBSERVED RESULT

There is an empty yellow box on the pdf.

EXPECTED RESULT

The yellow box should contain the supplied Korean text.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows:
macOS:
Linux/KDE Plasma:
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.19.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.74.0
Qt Version: 5.15.0

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

If you were to include both English and Korean text in the same annotation, only the English text will be rendered. If you try to edit the annotation, you'll find that the entire text is stored, it is just not rendered properly.

I can also reproduce the issue with Japanese characters.

By the way, if I save the PDF into a new file and then open it with Evince, the Japanese text is also not rendered in Evince.
