> https://www.digikam.org/documentation/faq/ is hopelessly out of date. Of course, there's no date either at the top nor the bottom, but the contents are so far from current KDE/Plasma that it obviouls ynot have been updated in a very long time.
Make suggestions for missing FAQs or write and expand the FAQ, your help is very welcome. Maik
Well, surpise: I came to the FAQ because I had an issue I need to solve. If I could rewrite the FAQ I wouldn't need the FAQ. Give the current state it does more harm than it helps. Probably better to take it offline.
Seriously, because your question is not answered in the FAQ, should we turn off the FAQ? We have a mailing list where you can ask your questions, other digiKam users and we answer your questions. Maik
You can try searching the documentation [1] or Google and see if your issue can be solved. > I came to the FAQ because I had an issue I need to solve. Please let us know the issue you are facing, so that the FAQ section can be improved. ---------- I guess some information are really outdated, for example: > How to deal with utf-8 encoding ? > > For Mandriva 2007 ... > When editing IPTC, playing with tags, assigning keywords or doing xxxx, digiKam crashes. What’s the problem ? > > It could be a problem with Exiv2. It’s mandatory to use at least version 0.25 with digikam. So, install a recent version (0.16 is highly recommended). > It’s strongly recommended to use the latest stable exiv2 version (0.14 now). I guess the latest stable version for Exiv2 is now v0.27.3? Sorry, but I very much doubt that it is worth the bother.
arne, This entry in bugzilla is about the obsolete section in FAQ that i fixed. I don't add new entry here and all contribution are welcome "AS i said MAIK previously". If you have a technical problem, you can : 1/ open a new file in bugzilla with all details to reproduce the dysfunction, following the Contribute page from digiKam.org 2/ contact the digikam-uer@kde.org mailing list to post Q and wait a response from the community. And definitively, as you don't explain your technical problem in this file, you cannot expect a technical response here. Voilà, this file is now closed. To continue the story, please follow point 1/ or 2/ Gilles Caulier
It turns out that the bug reporter indeed filed Bug 425878, although he/she didn't mention the bug here.
