In PTP mode the thumbnail is sent / created by the connected device. On my Android phone, all thumbnails of image files are displayed. Which phone model do you use? Maik
quote from original report: "thumbnails exist on phone" just opened the folder with gwenview, thumbnaisl weren't ther initially but re-created by gwenview. doesn't bother digikam, though. still no thumbnails.
It may be that there are thumbnails on the device. But digikam requests a thumbnail via the PTP driver, if this is not provided by the device, digiKam would have to download the entire file and create a thumbnail itself, which is exactly what Gwenview does. But it is definitely a fault of the device that it does not fully support the PTP protocol. Maik
