Description S. Christian Collins 2020-08-04 16:05:22 UTC
SUMMARY
If I have dolphin set to be present on all desktops and then another application causes a new tab to be opened in dolphin (e.g., Firefox's "Open Containing Folder" button for completed downloads), Dolphin is no longer present on all desktops, only the current one.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Dolphin, and make sure that "Open new folders in tabs" is enabled in Preferences -> Startup.
2. Set Dolphin to be visible on all desktops (right click Dolphin's taskbar entry, Move to Desktop -> All Desktops).
3. In Firefox or Chrome, download a file and then click "open containing folder" (Firefox) or "show in folder" (Chrome) to open the folder link in Dolphin.

OBSERVED RESULT
Dolphin is now only present on the current desktop.

EXPECTED RESULT
Dolphin should still be present on all desktops.

OS: KDE Neon 5.19 User Edition, Focal base (Plasma Desktop 5.19.4, KDE Frameworks 5.72.0, Qt 5.14.2)

Ops, I can reproduce on X11.
Comment 4 David Edmundson 2021-06-12 12:49:56 UTC
Please don't move things to kwin unless you can make a minimal test case showing kwin to be at fault.

I suspect you are in here: https://lxr.kde.org/source/frameworks/kwindowsystem/src/kstartupinfo.cpp#0775

I haven't been able to reproduce this bug for a long time, so I consider it fixed.
