Looks like the same as Bug 423318, but for Kicker. That person is using two screens and an NVIDIA GPU with the proprietary driver Do any of those conditions apply to you as well?
Ah never mind, I see that you mentioned intel graphics.
Sorry I'll play around to see if I can find out what causes it when I have time. Bear with me though as I don't have a computer science background. I only have 1 external monitor and although there's an NVIDIA card in the machine, I'm only using Intel: OpenGL vendor string: Intel OpenGL renderer string: Mesa Intel(R) HD Graphics 630 (KBL GT2) Device-1: Intel HD Graphics 630 driver: i915 v: kernel Device-2: NVIDIA GP107M [GeForce GTX 1050 Mobile] driver: N/A The monitor is connected via a USB C to HDMI cable. After disconnecting the cable, the application menu still floats above the panel
I think this must have been something to do with my config files because the problem went away on a fresh install. I don't have a backup of my conf dir though so don't know the culprit. For reference I was using arcolinux and saw this with both intel and nvidia drivers. Closing as worksforme, hopefully that's correct
