Created attachment 127677 [details] Where to put your mouse for gltich For months I was trying to casually track down a bug that made you unable to find certain programs in the KDE Start Menu. I knew it had something to do with opening the start menu with your mouse over it, but I just narrowed it down today. If you click on "Applications" for instance, you'll search the applications rather than all the files on your computer. However, if you use a hotkey to open the start menu and have your mouse moused OVER "Applications", it will visually be the same until you start typing, but only then will it switch to Applications, but since you've typed a bunch of letters in, nothing seemingly pops up. Logically, this kind of makes sense. Visually, it makes no sense at all (maybe just on my slow laptop?), so I'm not sure if it's just an annoying feature now that I've got it figured out. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Put your mouse over where the "Applications" panel in the Start Menu appears 2. Open the Start Menu with a hotkey 3. (Bug time): Notice that it's seemingly still in your "Favorites" tab, where you can search for anything 4: Type in the name of a file 5: Observe yourself not finding the file OBSERVED RESULT - File isn't shown in the Start Menu EXPECTED RESULT - File would be shown SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Linux 5.5, also according to Reddit tons of people with different distros are getting it KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.69.0 Qt Version: 5.14.2 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION - See attachments for where to put your mouse before triggering start menu
Hi thanks for responding, I am very annoyed by this bug for some time now, but I never was sure what is happening or how to reproduce it. I had to this is issue in kde neon for the past months, kde 18.04 and 20.04. I hope I am allowed to set this to confirmed.
Affects me as well. Insanely annoying.
This is also an inconsistent behavior: Behavior 1: - as described in this issue Behavior 2: (as expected) - open the start menu - open any tab (application/computer/history/leave) - start writing - it will make a global search!
