(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***) Package: konqueror Version: 4.0 (using KDE 3.0.5 (CVS HEAD >= 20020427)) Severity: wishlist Installed from: compiled sources Compiler: gcc version 2.95.3 20010315 (SuSE) OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.10-4GB OS/Compiler notes: I've seen that tabbes browing support is implemented in CVS. A feature I miss is support for dragging a link on a tab so that the link gets opened in this specific tab. Right now only loading in a new tab is supported. But you did a really great job!!! Thanks a lot! (Submitted via bugs.kde.org) (Called from KBugReport dialog)

Another similiar feature along the same line is the ability to drag and drop highlighted text to a tab (useful when a listed url is not an actual link)

This seems nice, but it would be inconsistent to what happens when you drag and drop an url from one Konqueror window to the other or to the desktop. MAby a context menu should appear when you try to do this to have a choic ebetween the standard action and the way mentioned here. Holding, a button such as ctrl when you want he old way to work migh tbe a less bloated idea, since most users wil use it the way mentioned here anyway. Another thing I DESPERATELY WANT AND THAT IS CONSISTENT IS THE FOLLOWING: One should be able to drag url's from web pages and files of all kinds up into an empty part of the tab "toolbar" to create a new tab with that url or file being the one to be loaded. IE: If I drag a pdf on empty space in the tab area I expect it to open in a new tab and load. If I do the same witha folder I expect to see the open folder in that tab. And so on for everything Konqueror supports.
Forgot to mention, to make this consistent you may want to allow url drag and drop the wa ymentioned here when the tab that it was dragged to was a website and if it was a file viewer use the old way.
I have a GREAT WAY ON HOW I THINK THIS SHOULD WORK!
