SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS KmPlot 1.3.0 Fedora31 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
How did you close the function panel? Please add exact steps. In the meantime, you should be able to fix the issue by exiting KmPlot, then deleting the "State=xxx" line from the [MainWindow] section in ~/.config/kmplotrc

This window can be accidentally closed: 1. click on the upper right corner - the standalone "& Function" window will appear 2.1. click on the "x" in the upper right corner of this standalone "& Function" window - the window will be closed and lost, the "State =" line will appear in the .config / kmplotrc file Regards Antoni

With KWin, there is no "X" Close button on the dragged out function window. Which window manager do you use?

The problem is that the Gnome window manager shows a close button despite the application requested to not show a close button. That could be a bug in Gnome interpreting the flags, or in Qt setting the flags. Could you please add a screenshot showing a detached utility window? I wonder if it has decorations with Gnome, and which buttons are shown there.
Created attachment 125460 [details] screenshot-kmplot1.jpg Yes, GNOME environment doesn't like KDE applications. I attach images before and after detached the utility window. Ouch, that's bad, because the user thinks that pressing the X button would move the panel back into the main window. I wonder why Qt hides its dock widget title bar, though. Apparently, it checks the window manager capabilities. I will try to report this issue to Qt developers, and report back if it can be fixed there, or if it needs to be fixed in the Gnome window manager.

Antonio, which exact GNOME version are you using? Qt developers cannot reproduce this issue with Ubuntu LTS 18.04. Please also install 'wmctrl' and add the output of this Konsole command: wmctrl -m
