STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. search for "desktop effects" kcm in the apps launcher and open it
2. search for "sheet" effect
3. hover over the search result

OBSERVED RESULT
As we can see in the attached screenshot, text escapes from mouseover effect

EXPECTED RESULT
Text does not escape from mouseover effect

Hmm, cannot reproduce with those steps.

now it is also reproducible on Plasma 5.18.

I still can't reproduce the originally reported issue, but I do see some cut-off text. Maybe related?

Another way to reproduce:
open standalone Desktop Effects kcm
scroll down
scroll up by dragging the scroll bar
observe the following effects while scroll down:
Mouse click animation
Snap helper
Magnifier
Background contrast
Fading popups

Can reproduce now, thanks for the helpful video. Probably the same root cause as Bug 418326.
