Created attachment 119844 [details] Application Launcher opacity glitch on resize demonstration SUMMARY STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Add "Application Launcher" widget 2. Open "Application Launcher" panel (by clicking or via shortcut) 3. Resize it via Alt+RMB to be bigger OBSERVED RESULT Some parts of the newly resized window stay transparent. EXPECTED RESULT Widget's window has the same overall opacity. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Kubuntu 18.04 (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.12.7 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.44.0 Qt Version: 5.9.5 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Alt+RMB method of window resizing is not advertized enough. Found out about it just before I was going to report a duplicate of ticket https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=399668
That's not a kwin bug; plasmashell doesn't update blur and background contrast regions.
The ability to resize the Application Launcher has been removed. This was never actually intentional behavior, because it causes issues like the kinds you're seeing. The good news is that the Application Launcher has also been made more space-efficient in the latest Plasma versions, so hopefully your reason for wanting to resize it will be reduced once you upgrade. :)
