Description Mina 2018-09-13 17:13:27 UTC
The dialog to set the proxy doesn't work. No proxy is being set. I do "env | grep HTTP" and I can't find the environment variables that should be added.
Comment 1 Mina 2018-09-18 08:18:03 UTC
Bump! Any updates on this?
Comment 2 Christoph Feck 2018-10-03 21:45:30 UTC
It sets the proxy for KIO classes, but libproxy also has a module to read the configuration from the KCM and use that. Applications need to use either KIO or libproxy, the KCM does not export terminal environment variables.
Comment 3 Mina 2018-10-04 17:41:34 UTC
I see. When I was using Ubuntu 16.04 (with unity) it used to set the environment variables. Is there another tool that does this?
Comment 4 Justin Zobel 2020-11-29 08:30:53 UTC
Thanks for the report, Mina.

I believe you can just add the proxy env setting to your .profile file perhaps.

Can you please test and confirm if this issue is still occurring or if this bug report can be marked as resolved. I've set the bug status to "needsinfo" pending your response, please change back to "reported" or "resolved" when you respond, thanks.

On Manjaro KDE `Linux 5.8.18-1-MANJARO x86_64`.
Firefox does not receive proxy settings by default. Chrome gets success.

Did you add the settings to your .profile file?

I didn't add anything for the proxy.
The .profile file did not change.
In the .bashrc file added only settings for git, phpbrew, and created a little alias to quickly run commands.
Comment 10 Jonathan Marten 2021-04-26 08:01:27 UTC
Not all applications suppport all of the proxy settings which are available in the KCM.
https://invent.kde.org/frameworks/kio/-/merge_requests/422 added a warning in the KCM for the settings which are not compatible.
