Description Wonder 2018-02-09 15:57:06 UTC
After upgrade to Plasma 5.12 in kubuntu 17.10 (also view in Neon LTS https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=390007) Discover crash.
When start Discover appears:
"cgcicon.knsrc: all categories are missing"

If I start Discover with Konsole appears this:
~$ plasma-discover
invalid kns backend! "/etc/xdg/ksysguard.knsrc" because: "Config group not found! Check your KNS3 installation."
invalid kns backend! "/etc/xdg/servicemenu.knsrc" because: "Config group not found! Check your KNS3 installation."
Discarding invalid backend "ksysguard.knsrc"
Discarding invalid backend "servicemenu.knsrc"
org.kde.knewstuff.core: Could not find category "KAddressbook Theme"
kns error "/etc/xdg/kaddressbook_themes.knsrc" "Faltan todas las categorías"
org.kde.knewstuff.core: Could not find category "Xfce Icon Theme"
kns error "/etc/xdg/cgcicon.knsrc" "Faltan todas las categorías"
QObject::~QObject: Timers cannot be stopped from another thread

At the moment, only I can update the system with this in a Konsole `pkcon refresh && pkcon update`

Those errors are spurious. This should be the same as Bug 390007, with the same workaround.

If that doesn't fix it, please provide a backtrace for the crash, or else we have no way to figure out what would be causing the problem.

If that happens in Kubuntu it is not a duplicate really (could not even be the same root cause mind you, as the relevant error we fixed isn't there [also us fixing this in neon does not fix it for kubuntu anyway]).

So yeah, if this is a crash we'll need a backtrace, otherwise it's probably best to bounce it to the Kubuntu team for investigation.

I reported this issue in kubuntu forums.
Now, I go search info for made the backtrace and attach here.
Thanks.

Can you please provide a backtrace? There's not much I can do without more information.

I can't send backtrace.

I can start plasma-discover with gdb, but plasma-discover not "crash" (with her error message) only appears the error ("cgcicon.knsrc: all categories are missing") but not close or crash with the window for send report.
Also, I go to help menu and click in send error, but link to this site for create ticket.

In this 2 last days I view (in my 2 computers) this:
Laptop: If I open Discover appears searching updates and a few seconds after, no any update.
In Desktop I need search some package for appears no any update. If click in search update, appears "searching" all time.

In 2 computers, now, if not open Discover, appears updates and can install it, but when open Discover continue with the error message.

Typing this reply, update 12 packages in Discover, and when finished the update, appears a image "Searching" and yes, crashes, but not open in dbg...

Other way for create backtrace?
