Use case: "Ad-hoc file encryption: Password-protect one or more files" CURRENT SITUATION: 1) (if KGpg is installed) - Right-click on the files to be encrypted - Choose Actions > "Encrypt File" - Select (or create) a key for asymmetric encryption - Too complicated for ad-hoc 2) (if Kleopatra is installed) - Right-click on the files to be encrypted - Choose Actions > "Encrypt File" (with another icon) - A dialog appears where one can choose asymmetric encryption, possible signing or symmetric encryption - Looks a bit complicated 3) (with Ark) - Right-click on the files to be encrypted - Choose Compress > "Compress to..." - Select Type "7zip" (if also filenames should be encrypted) - Click Password Protection - Enter password, OK WISH: It would be nice to have easier access to simple symmetric encryption with a simple GUI. SUGGESTION: - Add a new item "Encrypt with Ark" to the Actions menu. - This would call Ark with all relevant options for encryption preselected, see 3). - Maybe Ark could be extended to have a really simple GUI dialog only for password-protect some files.
