Description ajhanson 2017-12-13 19:04:52 UTC
Note -- this problem has appeared in Bug 25155, 33770, 35862. There may be others, but this is all the "Possible Duplicates" gives me, and they're all from over ten years ago.

Using Arch Linux, Kmail 5.6.3 (though this problem has existed for quite some time). Kmail "about" says KDE Frameworks 5.40.0, QT 5.9.3, the xcb windowing system.

When I first boot my computer, Kmail works fine and syncs with my Exchange account (the account has it as an IMAP Mail). For a while, if I receive new email, it also syncs.

After some time though, Kmail stops syncing properly. Pressing the "Check Mail" button appears to do something, but doesn't sync. I know there are unsynced emails through my phone and a web client. I don't have a great answer for how long it takes to get into this state, or what triggers might be causing it.

Restarting Kmail doesn't solve the problem.
Rebooting the computer does.

Happy to send logs; just let me know what I'm looking for.

First at all, use "akonadictl stop" wait that it was stopped (verify it with akonadictl status"
and after that "akonadictl start" so it's not necessary to reboot machine.

Did comment #1 help to resolve the issue?

In a sense, yes. Restarting akonadi does work, but it doesn't actually prevent the problem from arising. I don't face this issue with Thunderbird (for example).
