I am using the Icons-only Task Manager together with the "Focus Follows Mouse" policy (System Settings - Window Management - Window Behavior - Focus). When multiple instances of an application are running, the Icons-only Task Manager groups these together and displays a context menu upon clicking the application's icon. After a recent update (possibly from 5.9.x), this context menu now opens with a 1 or 2 pixel gap to the task manager Thus, attempting to click on the context menu requires moving the mouse across the gap, which focuses the appplication below and closes the context menu. This can be reduced somewhat using the "Delay focus by" option, but I prefer this set to less than 10 ms in order to allow quick working with Blender and other multi-window applications that are heavy on keyboard shortcuts.

Can't reproduce in: Plasma: 5.11.5 Apps: 17.12.1 Frameworks: 5.42.0 Qt: 5.10.0 Kernel: 4.14.16-1-MANJARO
It's definitely live and annoying in kubuntu bionic (no idea what the version is - it doesn't say) plasmashell 5.12.6
Created attachment 115243 [details] Good (no gap): Task Manager showing a preview on mouse hover The window preview shown by the KDE Plasma Task Manager on mouse hover has no gap.
Created attachment 115244 [details] Bad (has gap): Task Manager showing a task list after clicking When clicking on a stack of tasks, a small list is shown in the style of a context menu. This list now has a 5 pixel gap to the Task Manager (but shows a weird rounded border continuing to the Task Manager with an unfilled window interior)
I also still experiencing this issue as of KDE Plasma 5.12.5. The gap is now even larger, I've measured it at 5 pixels. For clarification I've attached images showing the issue. It only happens with the list-style task selection menu, now with the image-based one.
I get the problem with both the list based and the picture based versions. The list based version always floats above the taskbar with a gap The picture based version sometimes floats above the task (and works, being no gap) and sometimes floats above the taskbar and doesn't work (because of the gap). It is hard to work out why this isn't consistent but I think if the first time the pictures are activated (mouse hover) once the mouse has entered the taskbar then thry float above the taskbar with a gap. If I hover on something, get a picture and then hoover on something else before I leave the task bar the pictures hover above the button (no gap). I have two rows of task buttons (not sure if this makes any difference).
Looks like an old issue. Setting it to needs more info. Please try with a newer version(plasma 5.23.5) and if this is not an issue any more let us know. Bugs placed into NEEDSINFO status will receive a reminder if the ticket: Is at least 15 days old Has not received any comment within 15 days If a bug remains in NEEDSINFO for another 15 days with no comment, it will be closed as RESOLVED > WORKSFORME. If a bug remains in NEEDSINFO with a comment provided within less than 15 days, no action will be taken (as it does not meet the above criteria).
Still cannot reproduce, this time on Wayland. For people still able to reproduce the issue with Plasma 5.23.5 or later, are you using an auto-hide panel or a 3rd-party Plasma theme? And does it go away if you clear the Plasma SVG cache with `rm ~/.cache/*plasma*`
The current system is not perfect but it's a lot better than it was and definitely tolerable (IIRC sometimes the popup from the lower row obscures mouse overs on the upper row in a slightly less than elegant fashion but it's perfectly serviceable) - I can't work out what version of plasma I using (I presume somewhere there is something that tells me but I can't find it, kubuntu 21.10 at least). Based on that I would be happy for this to be closed.
OK cool, thanks. > sometimes the popup from the lower row obscures mouse overs on the upper row That's Bug 347041.
