Created attachment 108165 [details] Image of the Blue Screen that occurred during installation of digikam. DigiKam causes my machine to blue screen (crash) during installation on Windows 10.
The problem is due to use NSIS 2.5 to build windows installer which do not support Windows 10. An update to NSIS 3.x is required to fix the problem. Gilles Caulier
The Windows 10 blue screen is not reproducible. Look also this report : https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=385467 The DK user has installed the 5.7.0 under Windows 10 without any problem. Even if NSIS installer must be updated to last 3.0 release while bundle compilation, Your problem sound like a specific dysfunction from your computer.
I currently rebuild the Windows bundles using new NSIS 3.0.1 installer compatible with Windows 10. Files will be ready to test today evening. Gilles Caulier
The 5.8.0 pre-release Windows 64 bits bundle is available in GDrive at this url : https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0BzeiVr-byqt5Y0tIRWVWelRJenM File is : digiKam-5.8.0-01-Win64.exe Please test and report. Gilles Caulier
Thank you for the effort. However this also crashed my laptop. The Dell laptop is only a few weeks old and does not have much installed on it yet so I'm not sure what is in causing it to crash. The installer gets to about 25% - 30% and it is at this point that it blue screens the laptop.
What's the last lessage show by the installer at 25%-30%. It has already started to copy files to the hard drive ? Gilles Caulier
Created attachment 108232 [details] Screen at 27% just before it crashed.
I watched a little closer as it was about to crash and even got a pic a split second before the crash, added the pic as an attachment. It was at 27% and was searching for applications that it would be in conflict with.

Comment on attachment 108236 [details] Error message digikam 5.7 during installation process Dear All, I have a similar problem, however my PC is 5 years old and the installation does not cause a blue screen but stops the installation process. Kind regards, Michael
YEs, i see. This due to the NSIS component (dll) dedicated to check if program to install is not yet running in memory. I will check to find another way to process this check and generate a new beta installer.
