Kontact 5.5.2

Menu bar of all the Kontact apps disappeared.

Deleting "MenuBar=Disabled" entries in /home/remi/.config/kontactrc and relogging fixes it.

A quick search shows numerous people are affected by this bug.

The shortcut "show menu bar" (ctrl+m by default) does nothing in Kontact.

Did you enable the global Plasma menus?

Well, friends .... I just managed to solve on my Linux KDu4 ... restoring the /home/user/.config/ entire folder, and then firefox, dolphin, terminal and all other windows returned to the menu bar and I had to reconfigure just a few details of the taskbar, I'll try to find out which folder are the ones responsible, but it's there inside the .config

best regards...

I can confirm the same behaviour. It happens every time I enable the global manu (in titlebar or panel). Every sub-applications I select in kontact, gets a MenuBar=Disabled entry in the rc file. When I return to the default in-application menubar, the menubar isn't restored and it's impossible to enable it again with C-m. I have to manually remove all the MenuBar=Disabled entries.

The same happens with ksysguard. (Do you prefer that I open a separate bug report for ksysguard?)

Thank you for reporting this issue in KDE software. As it has been a while since this issue was reported, can we please ask you to see if you can reproduce the issue with a recent software version?

If you can reproduce the issue, please change the status to "REPORTED" when replying. Thank you!

I confirm this issue is still there on Kontact 5.21.3

I can confirm this bug.

Solution: delete MenuBar=Disabled or rename it to MenuBar=Enabled and restart Kontact

But be aware that there can be more than one entry of MenuBar=Disabled, at most one for each component I guess. Thus I suppose one has to change or delete respectively all of them that it works well.

BTW, CTRL-M works for me, but only to switch menu bar off, that means it changes to or creates the entry MenuBar=Disabled. The other way round it did not work.

My system:
KDE Plasma Version: 5.26.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.100.0
Qt Version: 5.15.7
Kontact: 5.21.3 (22.08.3)

I also have this issue. I'd like to add that the issue can be reproduced by opening the Settings menu and toggling "Show Menubar".

Also, I have observed the following (these are true regardless of whether the menubar is shown/hidden):
1. For me "ctrl+m" brings up a dialogue saying that the shortcut is ambiguous (opening the shortcuts dialogue shows that there is only one action bound to "ctrl+m")
2. The "Show Menubar" toolbar button does nothing (but it does display itself as pressed/unpressed)
3. Custom shortcuts set to "Show Menubar" do nothing, but this action is synced with the pressed/unpressed state of the toolbar button
