Description Matthias 2017-06-17 08:51:57 UTC
Hi there ^-^

I love that Dolphin`s Terminal Konsole follow the chosen path in the UI
Can you implement this also for the fish shell?

Thanks a lot in advance

You can change the shell that Dolphin's terminal pane uses. Right-click on it, choose "Edit Current Profile..." and use whatever shell you want. If you've got the fish shell installed, you can use it!
Comment 2 Matthias 2017-06-18 18:14:14 UTC
fish is already my default shell and with that, also the default shell in all Konsole sessions, including that one of Dolphin.

The nub of matter is, that i like the described feature implemented with fish

Bash follows the path, when i click in Dolphins UI on different locations.
Fish does not. How implemented that in Bash`s case?
Comment 3 Nate Graham 2017-06-18 18:59:02 UTC
I see what you mean now. Yes, it sounds like the terminal-follows-UI-location featureis unimplemented for the fisb shell, or buggy.
Comment 4 Matthias 2017-06-18 20:23:59 UTC
Buggy, since it works now here. :)
Comment 5 Matthias 2017-06-18 20:25:32 UTC
How is that implemented? Since i want to use it in Habitat as well, which is basically a simply fork in an own chroot. Can we use it there as well?
Comment 6 Nate Graham 2017-06-18 20:32:40 UTC
Do you remember what you did to get it working? Did you restart Dolphin or the computer?

I'm not sure how it's implemented; I'm just the new bug screener (as of yesterday!). If you're still having problems, let's hope a Dolphin developer chimes in.

This here is not a duplicate, since the other bug report is about bash.

Does this behavior still happen with a newer version of Dolphin (e.g. 17.12.3 or 18.04)? I would assume so, but it'd be great if @Matthias could quickly confirm this.

Any updates? It'd be great if we knew the current state of this bug report.
Comment 11 Julian Steinmann 2018-06-21 18:18:21 UTC
Okay, I can now also reproduce this behavior - fish does not follow the path at all. The current solution is probably too centered around bash...
Comment 12 michael 2018-08-17 08:09:38 UTC
It does also not follow in tcsh. But this behaviour has been changed, because it has worked for me in the past.

Maybe it is related to the behaviour, that the path appears in the konsole at the prompt, but it must be executed manually ba hitting return. In the global dolphin setting, I have found an option for confirmation of executable, which is marked. Unmark it does not have an effect, furthermore it is not persistent. As soon I close the setting and reopen it, the old setting is marked.
