I recently observed a new KDE user browse through the main System Settings window in search for the sound configuration KCM and miss the Multimedia icon in the Hardware pane because "this one looked like a monitor, but I wanted to configure sound so I was looking for a speaker". The Oxygen version of this icon is a video clap with a musical note, which might have been easier to associate with "sound controls". I personally think a speaker icon would be more recognizable. This is what both MacOS and Windows use. Cinnamon also has a speaker, and Gnome shows a volume knob. I filed a separate bug on systemsettings to track renaming Multimedia to "Sound and Video" or splitting it into two separate icons (#379822).
Hi, can you please add a screenshot about Windows, MacOS Cinnamon and Gnome thanks.

Still present in Plasma 5.12.2.
I might recommend adding a pair of speakers to the composition, so it would be a screen + speakers.
Since the Audio KCM was moved out of the Multimedia category, I think this bug can be closed.
