Have you read the existing bug reports? -> Bug 372966 and/or Bug 371513.

In short, try setting

QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME=appmenu-qt5:kde
KDE_SESSION_VERSION=5

and run Krusader with these env vars.

Just to be sure
>QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME=appmenu-qt5:kde KDE_SESSION_VERSION=5 krusader

does not change anything?

And which icon theme are you using. Please try installing Breeze.

But its not set for KDE applications.

You should have a file "~./config/kdeglobals" with

>[Icons]
>Theme=breeze

in it. This is changeable with KDE system settings.

It's doesn't work for me. :(
My Debian system is a minimal instalation. I have not tipical desktop Gnome, kde, xfce, mate, cimmanon, etc...
Finally I have added the next line in my "/home/witopea/.config/openbox/environment" file:

export XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP=gnome

It's working.

I think they should fix this in order to that icons are displayed properly in light installations like typical desktops.

Thank you for your attention

I'm glad its solved.

In retrospect my hint to kdeglobals was probably useless. Sorry, there are just to many configurations with icon theme/DE/distributions.

Maybe
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Qt
would also have helped.

And Ubuntu is special again: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=372966#c24
