Description Phuoc 2017-02-13 23:09:22 UTC
I'm running 16.12.1 on Windows 7.
When I add a JPG image (from my camera) to the timeline it's rendered (mp4) as a white screen.
I tried to re-save the image in GIMP and also reduce the size. It didn't help. It only works when I saved it in PNG.
But JPG has no problem in preview.
Comment 1 Wegwerf 2017-02-18 15:01:29 UTC
Can you please attach a sample project together with the JPEG, so we can try to reproduce?

I am having the same bug. Above I posted the image I used and the project. Thank you.
Comment 5 Wegwerf 2017-02-19 15:58:35 UTC
Unfortunately, this is not a minimized project, as far as I can see when looking at the XML. You still have other source clips included. Please minimize the regression project to the absolute minimum that still triggers the bug. Thank you very much for your cooperation.

Same bug.

Kdenlive version 16.12.1, on Windows 7.
Comment 9 DeMus 2017-09-06 13:09:33 UTC
I use 17.11.70 on Linux Manjaro and in my case both the preview as the rendered movie is white. I also use jpg pictures to turn them into a movie.

Reopening based on recent information added.

Converted the attached JPG to PNG and it renders correct. JPG files renders to white MPG4, WBEM always. Tested with the Kdenlive_Nightly_Appimage 27.Dec 18.
Comment 12 emohr 2019-01-14 20:05:43 UTC
This is a Windows version bug only. It seems it has something to do with compiling.
On the actual AppImage 18.12.1 version it works.

Apply the workaround until it's solved.

another workaround to render jpg source to mp4 correctly

I have found another workaround for this problem.
Until v18.12.3 has been release, try changing Melt path to point previous version of melt.exe in the Settings dialog of Kdenlive-18.12.1
Doing this will render jpg source to mp4 movie correctly.

This happening to me also on 19.04 version of Kdenlive (beta and official) for Windows 64...
i have to change all JPG to PNG to have a correct rendering.
Comment 21 Davy Bartoloni 2019-04-24 06:44:43 UTC
Fixed on release 19.04.0-2 :)
Comment 22 emohr 2019-04-24 07:24:18 UTC
Thank you for confirming that the issue is solved. Uploaded the new compiled version 19.04.0-2 yesterday.
Comment 23 contact 2020-10-02 11:40:45 UTC
Looks like there's a regression? The sample project from #c7 doesn't render properly on both 20.08.1 and the latest daily Windows build.
Comment 24 emohr 2020-10-02 16:13:32 UTC
I tested on Master and 20.08.1: both render the JPG to MP4 fine. Do you have set the path to FFMPEG correct under settings -> configure -> environment?
Comment 25 contact 2020-10-03 10:28:49 UTC
I've done some testing today and found out that this bug is indeed not present when Kdenlive is installed globally ("Install for anyone using this computer"), but it is when Kdenlive is installed locally ("Install just for me"). The path to ffmpeg is correct, though it contains Cyrillic letters in the latter case, but I doubt that's the issue here.
