After the update to plasma 5 metadata editing vanished from Plugin/Images menu. Already have reported this here https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=367518 and https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=344675. But nobody confirmed it yet. Reproducible: Always I'm on Chakra Linux. kipi-plugins: 5.2.0 libkipi: 16.08.1 gwenview: 16.08.1
Just learned in Bug344675 that the missing meta data submenu is due to changes in kipiplugins. It was stated that meta data editing was moved from there directly to digikam. It would be great if it will find its way back into kipiplugins so that it can be used in gwenview again. Thanks Knut
No. this tool will stay in digiKam now.
Note : it's now possible since version 5.0.0 to use this tool from Showfoto image editor, if you don't want to use digiKam as well..

I already have noticed and use it there. But that is only a workaround, since my standard image viewer is gwenview. From gwenview there I used to make minor changes to metadata until it vanished from kipiplugins. Digikam I only use to mange my picture archive, which are stored on a separate external disk. Anyhow, thanks for the hint.
