Description Graham 2016-09-25 17:04:07 UTC
Whenever a dialogue box should close - from all applications - it disappears then rapidly re-appears again. The only way to close these boxes is to switch from compositing to non-compositing (ie Alt-Shift-F12). The dialogue box does not reappear when switching back again, but the panel sometimes will toggle (on Alt-Shift-F12) between two versions, with closed applications still shown (but the taskbar entry is unresponsive). If the machine has been suspended the two panel versions will show different times.

please provide output of:
qdbus org.kde.KWin /KWin supportInformation
Comment 2 Graham 2016-10-04 08:22:09 UTC
This output is with a single monitor and different video card, the issue is still the same.

Comment 3 Martin Flöser 2016-10-04 08:51:15 UTC
Can you try whether disabling the translucency effect fixes the issue?
Comment 4 Graham 2016-10-04 09:55:51 UTC
Disabling translucency initially stopped the persistent dialogue box only once, then the problem re-appeared, however windows were still translucent when moved - although the "translucency" checkbox was not shown as selected in System Settings. Disabling translucency, logging out and restarting the X server does solve the problem, and windows aren't translucent when moved.
Comment 5 Martin Flöser 2016-10-04 10:51:35 UTC
great! Can you please tell me which config options you had set in the translucency effect? My thinking is that there is one change in the settings which triggers it.
Comment 6 Graham 2016-10-04 11:17:04 UTC
The settings I have are:
Set menu translucency independently: Not checked
Inactive windows: 100% Opaque
Moving windows: 60% Opaque
Dialogs: 90% Opaque
Combobox popups: 90% Opaque
Menus: 100% Opaque

Thanks for your help!
Comment 7 Martin Flöser 2016-10-04 12:17:00 UTC
> Dialogs: 90% Opaque
> Combobox popups: 90% Opaque

That might be the culprit which triggers it.
Comment 8 Graham 2016-10-04 14:29:19 UTC

It looks like that's it; setting them both to 100% solves the issue with translucency on and the other settings as before... Thanks!
